A Lawn Mower's Lament
A lawn mower sat at the back of its shed
Tired, oil-starved, engine dead.
"I've worked all summer, coped rain and shine,
I'm grimy, grass-covered, neglected, and find
My owner cares only from May to October
And forgets to service me when the season's over.
My oil needs changing and so does my filter
My engine's seized up and it's all out of kilter.
I've a hole in my fuel pipe where a mouse has chewed
And my starting cable needs renewed.
Delaying my service till Spring's round the corner
When everyone's waited, the queue just gets longer,
And so does your grass; a hayfield, a nightmare,
The result of forgetting my seasonal mower care.
